Teacher accused of feeding puppy to snapping turtle found not guilty of animal cruelty (1-4-19)
PRESTON, Idaho (KCCI) —
An eastern Idaho middle school teacher accused of feeding a puppy to a snapping turtle was acquitted Friday, the Idaho State Journal reported.
Robert Crosland, a biology teacher at Preston Junior High School, had been charged with one count of misdemeanor animal cruelty after investigators said he dropped a sick puppy into an aquarium. A snapping turtle then ate the animal.
Crosland testified during the two-day trial that he thought he was doing the right thing. Students who witnessed the incident and Crosland’s colleagues testified during the trial.
