Police: Man strangled cat, tried to drink its blood (1/12/16)
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa —Cedar Falls police said a man was arrested and charged for strangling his cat and trying to drink its blood, The Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier newspaper reports.
Police were called to an apartment at 2714 Bicentennial Drive on Jan. 1 and found the remains of the cat.
According to court records obtained by the Courier, officers noticed Justin Case Jacoby, 36, had “a small amount of blood on his face, near his mouth.”
Police reported he was apparently upset over an upcoming eviction.
“(Jacoby) stated he killed the cat to satisfy his blood craving and to keep the animal from having to go to an animal shelter upon his eviction from the apartment,” the responding officer reported.
Jacoby was taken to a hospital for observation, and on Monday he was charged with first-offense animal torture. His bond was set at $10,000.
Police said Jacoby told them he had the cat 11 years.
