New Bedford (MA) residents indicted on animal cruelty charges (7-10-15)

FALL RIVER — A Bristol County grand jury has indicted two New Bedford residents on animal cruelty charges after authorities discovered dozens of dead or mistreated animals in their apartment last month.

Sabrina Harding, 23, and Jake Brousseau, 24, will be arraigned at a later date in Superior Court in Fall River. The grand jury returned its indictments Thursday, charging both with six counts each of animal cruelty.

“The allegations contained in the indictments are very disturbing and extremely offensive to a civilized society. Animals bring great comfort and companionship to many people and deserve to be treated in a humane way,” Bristol County District Attorney Attorney Thomas Quinn said in a prepared statement.
